Suit Care
A good suit is probably one of the most expensive things in your wardrobe it should last you a long time if you take care of it properly.
Once your suit has been worn, it should be kept on a hanger.
Use a good quality hangar that supports your clothes. Flimsy wire hangers cause clothes to sag out of shape over time they may even cause damage to the shoulders of the jacket.
Creases generally release by themselves if the suit is left hanging for a period of time.
Don’t crowd clothes in your wardrobe let them breathe, store your suit in a breathable garment bag for protection.
Storage areas should be dark and clean light fades garments and attracts insects.
Avoid stuffing your pockets with keys, change and other items which will put a strain on the seams, and distort the shape of the garment.
When sitting down unbutton your suit jacket, otherwise you will be pulling on it, pull your trousers up at the thigh just a little so you don’t stretch the fabric .
A clothes brush is a great accessory- brush your suit with one when you take it off to keep it clean and looking good.
Spots and stains should be removed as soon as possible with a brush or damp sponge.
Taking your suit to the dry cleaners, point out any spots so that they can be given extra attention. It also helps if you can identify what caused the stain, to enable the optimum solvent to be applied to the stain.
Dry clean your suit, only when necessary. Dry cleaning is by definition, cleaning with solvents and little or no water. The combination of solvents and heat can be hard on some fabrics .
If your suit gets wet, let it dry naturally keeping away from heat to avoid shrinkage.
Press your suit with steam and a moderate temperature using a clean thin cotton fabric such as a T towel between your suit and the iron to avoid scorching
